The alien beauty of Salar de Uyuni - the largest salt desert
in the world, Bolivia
Salar de Uyuni is one of the few places on Earth where you
can feel like on another planet. The amazing beauty of this place often leads
people to think that those pictures are digitally processed and changed, but
the fault for those breathtaking views is only the nature.
Salar de Uyuni is a desert, but instead of the traditional
abundance of sand, you will see billions of tons of brilliant white salt. When
covered with water in the rainy season, Salar de Uyuni is becoming a shallow
lake and creates a unique mirror effect that makes the place seems almost
unreal. The water depth is only a few centimetres, so everyone can safely walk
on the surface.
This amazing creation of nature is located in southern Bolivia and the
largest salt desert in the world with an area of slightly more than 10,000
square kilometres. Located on the impressive altitude - 3656 meters, and was
formed after the transformation of several prehistoric lakes. Its beauty
attracts many tourists. There are various attractions such as a hotel made of
salt.
